The Zlatic Lab is interested in identifying the neural circuits required for behaviour. My work in the group aims to identify memory engrams and the mechanisms of long-term memory formation. For this work I use 2-photon microscopy with holography for single-cell optogenetic stimulation to perform olfactory associative learning. Following this, we employ electron microscopy and computational network reconstruction. We use Drosophila larvae as a model due to their small number of neurons, transparent skin, and ability to introduce a large number of transgenes.
