I am working on a project that investigates the transcriptome of activated non-neuronal cells after traumatic spinal cord injury (tSCI). We are employing single cell RNA sequencing, a novel, unbiased, high-throughput technique, to elucidate the temporal complexities and inter-cellular heterogeneity of these non-neuronal cell populations on an single cell level. A better understanding of these cellular and molecular mechanisms will allow for the development of more effective tSCI therapies.
