Why not take 5 minute to update (or create) your Cambridge Neuroscience profile
Why bother updating?
- The more details that are included in your profile improves the website’s functionality and searchability and hence the usefulness of the site for all! For example, [Note that you can search the site (members/news stories/pages) for ‘myelin’ in the search box at the top of each page or you can filter/search the directory only – if you do not have myelin listed on your profile, you will miss out!]
- Your profile, and in turn the website, will look more appealing and engaging
- Complete profiles allow others to search for collaborators more easily and more effectively
- Prospective students can explore your research area and contact you (please try and include your email!)
- All different types of people view our pages – we have approx 26K views per month and member directory searches account for the greatest % of views. Funders, members of the public, prospective students and employees, other scientists and more view your profile – your Cambridge Neuroscience profile should serve as a one-stop-show and portal to other aspects of your academic online activity
- Our Popular Keyword page will become a more accurate reflection of our research
What do I do next?
- Go to Cambridge Neuroscience homepage
- Login to your profile
- Once you login, you will be directed to the Edit Page. You will see tabs at the top for ‘Profile’, ‘Manually added Publications’, ‘Imported Publications’ etc.
- You will then be able to update your profile under the ‘profile’ tab– hopefully it is self explanatory!
- Please include keywords, clinical conditions, collaborators, a photo of yourself, your visible email and as much information as you can – you can add a research image, details of your social media accounts, your orcid id, home pages, host Departments etc
- Within the ‘profile’ tab, you can click the ‘View Public Profile’ link to see what is publicly available on your page
- Then, if you have a Symplectic Elements account (and have a crsid), you will be able to click on the ‘Imported Publications’ tab. From there you can select the publications, you would like visible on your profile page. You can also select ones to display as key publications. PLEASE NOTE: publications are updated once per week, so if you see the message ‘You have no imported publications at this time’, please check back in a few days as your publications might have not imported yet.
- If you do not have a Symplectic Elements account (or do not possess a crsid – perhaps an affiliated member or other), you can manually add your publications under the appropriate tab – ‘Manually added Publications’.
- Events and Abstract tabs – you can login to your account to register for events and to submit abstracts for events.
- If you wish to go back and edit your profile again, please click the ‘My Profile’ tab in the top right of the website
- Click on the Newsletter Subscription tab and subscribe to the weekly newsletter – when box is black, it is selected!
- Associated news items are only linked to news items listed on the Cambridge Neuroscience News (and not external sites)

- New profile users will be required to complete a form with your basic details – your profile will then be approved by me, you will then receive a welcome email with a request to sign up for the newsletter – follow the instructions – you can then update your profile as per instructions above.
