We're in an excellent, central location with great access, less than an hour from London and several international airports; Cambridge city is compact and easy to get around on foot with great connections to the wider region.

Accommodation


Staying in historic Cambridge college accommodation during the student vacations is a unique opportunity. With centrally-located bed and breakfast (B&B) rooms available per person, per night, it offers a cost-effective option for those looking for city centre accommodation. You could trace the footsteps of graduates such as Marr, Newton, Darwin, Wordsworth, John Cleese, and Prince Charles. You will eat in the college hall, and could wander through the college's gardens and courts, learn about the college's history followed by a drink in the college bar.

Getting to Cambridge


Cambridge is situated in the East of England, 60 miles North of London and very well placed for access by road, rail and air.


By Rail

Cambridge has a fast train service to and from London Kings’ Cross, which is adjacent to St Pancras for Eurostar connections. The journey takes approximately 45 minutes and several fast trains depart each hour, to check exact arrival and departure times please visit National Rail. Cambridge has two train stations, Cambridge and Cambridge North, the latter is convenient for venues in the north of the city and the Cambridge Science Park, most delegates will arrive into Cambridge train station which is situated a mile from the historic centre. Frequent local buses and taxis are available for those who would prefer not to walk.


By Air

London Stansted is situated 30 miles south of Cambridge and offers a number of routes to and from Europe and other UK destinations. Direct routes to Cambridge by National Express bus services and trains are available and taxis are plentiful.

London Gatwick, London Heathrow, London City and London Luton are all within 1-2 hours drive of Cambridge and accessible by public transport via connecting bus and train services in London.


By Road

Long-distance coach services to and from Cambridge from UK destinations are run by National Express. The Cambridge coach station is close to the city centre and there is an adjacent taxi rank.

For delegates that prefer to drive, Cambridge offers a number of Park & Ride sites on the outskirts of the City and journey times into the centre take just a few minutes. If overnight parking is required for your delegates we can offer group rates for central parking locations, Cambridge City Council can offer more information on this service. Please note that only Official Guides are permitted to deliver tours inside the University of Cambridge Colleges. Lots of different tours take place daily, so you can experience these magnificent buildings and hear insightful and fascinating facts, stories and myths. Alternatively take a City Sightseeing Tour and enjoy the sights & sounds of Cambridge from the top deck of the hop on, hop off bus tour or get off the beaten track and take your group on a Cambridge Bike Tour. For groups with a creative streak, Quick Sketch Tours offer a walking tour with a difference where visitors are encourages to draw what they see, participants end the tour with a book full of Cambridge sketches, a unique memento of their visit.

For food and drink enthusiasts The Cambridge Food Tour showcases the best of Cambridge through the eyes of a ‘Foodie’, Cambridgeshire Wine School offers tasting packages for all levels and tastes while a wide range of city centre bars provide tailored Masterclasses with some of the city’s top Cocktail experts. The Cambridge Gin Laboratory run group tastings and gin blending sessions, based in the heart of the city, visits can be tailored to suit specific interests. Further afield, groups can visit the home of English Whisky for tastings and tours of the St George's Distillery, the first whisky distillery in England for over 120 years.


Museums

In Cambridge, you will be spoilt for choice as the city boasts the country’s highest concentration of internationally renowned collections outside London. Many of the University of Cambridge’s eight museums are free to enter. Pay a visit to the Fitzwilliam Museum - the arts and antiquities museum for the University of Cambridge, take a stroll around the exhibition space at Kettle's Yard or enjoy taking in the best in contemporary arts at the city's many independent galleries. This leaflet provides information about where to go to join a licensed tour. You can choose from 6 locations as shown on this map. You can buy tickets at each location, online or through Visit Cambridge and Beyond. Please DO NOT buy your punting tickets from people selling them on King’s Parade or the Market Square as illegal punt operators sell tours from these locations.
