Do you have exceptional memory?

A new study at the University of Cambridge is exploring exceptional memory in autistic and neurotypical people. We are interested in learning more about the brain basis of exceptional memory that people have.

We welcome anyone who thinks they have exceptional memory to take part in this research.

We would like to invite you to take part in our research study. This study was approved by the Psychology Research Ethics Committee (PRE.2022.084).

To take part, you must be 16-60 years old.

This study has two phases:

Phase 1 of the study involves completing three online memory tasks (digit span, spatial span, paired associates), demographic questions and three brief questionnaires. This should take approximately 15 to 35 minutes and can be completed at home.

Everyone who completes phase 1 of the study will have the option to be entered into a prize draw to win one of three £20 Love2Shop vouchers. The results of the prize draw will be announced after recruitment has closed.

Phase 2 of this study involves a functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) brain scan and several in person memory tasks.

Phase 2 participants will be reimbursed with £10 per hour, given a copy of their brain scan and reimbursed for lunch and their travel expenses.

Currently phase 2 of the exceptional memory study is recruiting participants in England, particularly in the Cambridgeshire area, but we hope to expand the study internationally.
