Funding for impact projects is available in the EPSRC subject area. Brief call description below, for full information check here:   

EPSRC IAA Follow on Fund 2025

This call supports activities to consolidate or establish an attractive commercial opportunity based on a proof of concept. Awards, up to £50,000, with a maximum duration 6 monthsNEW CALL! 

EPSRC IAA Early-stage Commercialisation Fund 2025

to make ideas more attractive for further commercial investment.  Awards, up to £100,000 with a maximum duration of 12 months. 

EPSRC IAA Knowledge Mobilisation Fellowship 2025

aims to enable impact through the two-way exchange of knowledge, expertise and/or research between the university and non-academic partners (industrial partners, policymakers and the third sector). Secondments/placements up to 9 months into or from a non-academic partner organisation with a maximum award of £70,000. 

EPSRC IAA Strategic Partnership Fund 2025

aims to establish closer working relationships and collaborations between researchers and external partners (external to the university, e.g. business, industry, public or third sector) with the potential for developing long-term new strategic partnerships for the University. Up to £55,000, max. duration 6 months.   

Also open, the All-Council Harmonised Impact Starter Grant (formerly known as the Rapid Response). Call supports early-stage research impact and knowledge exchange projects across all disciplines. Projects up to 3 months. The Impact Starter Fund will only consider projects that do not qualify for other IAA funding calls. 

General rules 

Who can apply? 

Applications are welcomed from staff employed in any University department to develop impact projects originating from research in the EPSRC’s remit. Interdisciplinary projects are welcome.  

Please note that, in contrast to previous EPSRC IAAs, previous/current EPSRC funding is NOT a requirement. 

Applications from Early Career Researchers with PIs as co-applicants are encouraged.
