We are asking for your help with our 2024 widening participation initiative, the Experience Postgrad Life Sciences programme. Widening participation programmes such as this are important, as most of our applicants to MPhil and PhD degrees come from a small number of high-ranking universities. Often, perceived barriers prevent students from more diverse backgrounds from applying. The programme offers funded 8-week long summer research placements to undergraduates who are in their penultimate year of study.
If you are interested in becoming involved, please discuss this possibility with your Lab Head (if that is not you) and then complete this Brief Survey before Wednesday 24th January 2024 to confirm whether you would be willing to host a student from this programme for 8 weeks between Monday 8th July until Friday 30th August 2024.
The placements are funded from a number of sources and the programme will provide students with the Real Living Wage and accommodation at Corpus Christi College, which is generously supporting the scheme. Labs will also receive £500 towards associated research costs.
