Interests

My current research project aims to characterise the intrinsic properties of inhibitory interneurons in the prefrontal cortex of a Rett syndrome mouse model (Mecp2) at different developmental stages using the whole-cell patch-clamp electrophysiology technique. I am also interested in the effects of aberrant local protein synthesis in disease states, with a particular focus on an RNA-binding protein - FUS, implicated in motor neuron disease and frontotemporal dementia.
