LOOKING FOR WORK! Finishing up my MPhil soon and looking for one year wet lab positions! I am a hard worker and very good at picking up new techniques (learned how to microtome in 8 hours and how to use a confocal in 2). Please reach out if you are looking for someone, especially in the Cambridge area, to boost your team. I am excited to discuss how to apply my skills and interests to your projects! ~ I am a current MPhil in the Basic and Translational Neuroscience program at the University of Cambridge. My research project, focused on characterization of monoamine G-protein coupled receptors in Octopus vulgaris, is housed in the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology under the supervision of Dr. Amy Courtney and Dr. Bill Schafer. I am really passionate about using cephalopods as a model system and curious about why we select specific animals to explore in order to better understand ourselves. As a side project, I am also interested in pain and it’s transition to chronic pain especially in relation to chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CPPS). During my undergrad at UW-Madison I worked in Dr. Meyer Jackson’s lab under the supervision of Dr. Kate Scheuer. This project was in transgenic mice exploring the relative layer and column activation of Parvalbumin interneurons in somatosensory barrel cortex using the hVOS system. After the completion of my MPhil I am hoping to find a research assistant position that will further my training and prepare me for a PhD in neuroscience.
