I am a molecular biologist, with expertise in genetics and neuroscience. My research focuses on understanding the genetics and molecular mechanisms underlying psychiatric and neurodevelopmental disorders at all levels, from genes to behaviour. I take an overarching approach that brings together animal and human research on the basis of genetic analysis. I have worked with both rodents and non-human primates, and more recently with human data, studying the associations between genetic variation and psychiatric traits. Given the shared genetic liability across psychiatric disorders, I use a transdiagnostic approach by looking at psychiatric dimensions, such as social, emotional and cognitive abilities, rather than diagnoses.
