    Emily Towner

    Interests

    Emily Towner is a final year PhD Candidate in Psychology at the University of Cambridge and a Gates-Cambridge Scholar. Her research focuses on adolescence and the brain, with particular interests in loneliness, anxiety, mental health, and social media. Working in the Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience Lab led by Professor Sarah-Jayne Blakemore, her PhD research examines social isolation in adolescents, using high definition magnetic resonance imaging to study brain structure and function. Prior to her doctoral studies, Emily was a lab manager and research associate at UCLA's Brain and Body Lab. Her educational background includes a Master's Degree in Social Science from UCLA, a postbaccalaureate in psychology from Columbia University, a Bachelor's Degree in Communications and Media from City University of New York, and an Associate's Degree in Applied Science from the Fashion Institute of Technology.
