My interest is to understand the basic molecular mechanisms that contribute for neurodegenerative diseases. Currently I am focusing on the RNA metabolism dysregulation associated with motor neuron disease and in parallel I am studying the mechanisms of regulation of translation of nuclear mitochondrial mRNAs. I am using the fruit fly Drosophila as a model for motor neuron disease and also the budding yeast to answer to more simple questions.
