I study molecular mechanisms of activity-dependent myelination in the central nervous system. I combine the use of primary rat cell culture with optogenetice, light and electron microscopy and proteomics to understand how neuronal activity regulates myelin formation and how myelin influences the function of neuronal circuits. When I am not in the lab, I enjoys cycling through the English countryside, firing up the barbecue and gardening.
