    Dr Alexander Murley is pleased to consider applications from prospective PhD students.

    Interests

    I am a clinical lecturer and neurology registrar with a research interest in neurodegeneration and specifically the clinical syndromes associated with frontotemporal lobar degeneration. The cause of the variability of these diseases is poorly understood and an important obstacle to developing effective treatments. I am investigating how changes in genetic variation; brain volume and neurotransmitter concentration contribute to this variability in clinical phenotype and prognosis. My long-term objective is to link pre-clinical to clinical research, translating research progress to the patients I see in clinic
