My research integrates approaches from psychology, psychiatry and cognitive neuroscience to better understand and enable more effective interventions and ultimately prevention of mental health conditions relating to compulsivity and impulsivity (primarily Hoarding Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). I study how people control their actions and inhibit or change them when the behaviours are deemed no longer appropriate or disruptive. I also investigate how learning mechanisms can contribute to maladaptive behaviours.
