How to apply

We are very pleased to invite applications for the MPhil in Basic and Translational Neuroscience.

  1. Check your eligibility
  2. Look at sources of funding and check deadlines you are working towards: see University of Cambridge Funding Search Tool, University Funds, information about funding and External Funding. Note that you will need to apply by January 4th 2024 if you wish to be considered for University funding.
  3. Bursaries covering part of the fee are available to support students from low-income households with experience of educational disadvantage. Additional needs can be considered. Please contact the Programme Administrator if you require further information.
  4. Apply online via the Applicant Portal (closing date 24th April 2024). Note that you will need to apply by January 4th 2024 if you wish to be considered for University funding.
Note about closing date

We encourage you to apply as early as possible. This course has a deadline beyond which applications cannot normally be considered (24th April 2024). However, you should not wait until the month/week/day of this deadline to submit your application or supporting documents as there is no guarantee that places will still be available at that point, and your application will be withdrawn if it is not complete by the deadline.

Note about project supervisors

You are not expected to identify a project supervisor before applying, although it is helpful if you can provide details of the research areas (and potential supervisors) that interest you in the ‘research’ section of the application form. Projects are not selected until after the MPhil has started and we cannot guarantee in advance that any particular supervisor will be offering projects. If you are only interested in one particular supervisor, we suggest that you contact them directly to discuss applying to join their group for a 1-year research MPhil, or for a PhD.
