My research focuses on the use of quantitative MRI methods to understand the brain in health and pathology. I have a particular interested in diffusion MRI, an imaging modality which has been shown to provide useful information about the microstructural architecture of the brain. I have used this technique to study a number of brain disorders such as Parkinson's disease, Stroke and Traumatic Brain Injury, as well as healthy ageing. I am also interested in developing methods for high resolution fMRI acquisition, in particular methods for motion correction. Alongside my research work I run the MRI facility at the MRC Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit.
