I am clinical academic, part time assistant professor at the Department of Psychiatry and part time clinical lead for the Cambridge Psychosis Centre and Clozapine Clinic for the local MH Trust (Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust). In our research group (www.schizophrenias.group), we mainly focus on the non-psychotic symptoms of schizophrenia. Our main lines of research are: 1) Understanding of negative symptoms, mostly poor motivation 2) Studying and treating antipsychotic-induced side effects (i.e. compulsive behaviour). 3) Exploring the links between metabolic complications and schizophrenia. In our studies, we use different methods and techniques, including blood biomarkers, clinical epidemiology, computational neuroscience, as well as clinical trials with new interventions (both pharmacological and non-pharmacological). Additionally, I am deputy editor for the British Journal of Psychiatry and Spanish Journal of Psychiatry and Mental Health.
